Two Hats: Best Great Commission Film

Posted in Two Hats on February 29, 2012 by Andrew Garcia

We are excited to announce that Two Hats has won the “Great Commission” category at the 2012 San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival!

We realize that this is not of our own doing. It’s the Lord’s movie. He is the one that gave Andrew the vision for this project and our prayer is that it will bring honor and glory to His name. In Stephen Kendrick’s (Director of Courageous, Best of Festival winner) acceptance speech he put in perspective the whole purpose of the SAICFF by reminding us of an awards ceremony taking place that very weekend where bringing up the Lord’s name would be awkward at best and how at the SAICFF it would be awkward if he didn’t mention the name of Jesus Christ.

It was encouraging to be around directors, actors, producers and distributors who are there for a bigger cause than fame and recognition. Andrew and I discussed on the way to the awards ceremony how empty a life it would be if winning an Oscar was what it’s all about. We didn’t pull up in a limo, walk out onto a red carpet with cameras flashing and mics in our face. We discussed how glad we are that there is more to life than that. We may not make millions off Two Hats, but if one soul is saved, if one young person gives their life to the Lord, one family gives more to missions, one missionary is encouraged it was all worth it.

Our “Jubilee Award” is dedicated to the Wells family, and the Allen family who made this film possible and who are even now, serving the Lord faithfully “Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart”. We’d also like to remember the Cretzman family, missionaries to Cuba who are remaining faithful through incredible hardship. Please remember to pray for our missionaries and give to the cause of Christ.

We are in the process of scheduling a nation-wide Christian movie night for churches to show the film to their community. Please consider hosting a movie night in your church, home or other venue to participate in this. We will have more details and specific dates soon!

Coming March of 2012!

Posted in Uncategorized on February 16, 2012 by Andrew Garcia

It has become clear to us over the last couple of months that Second Mile Films is not only a Christian-based film production company, it has also developed into a full time tech support for aspiring filmmakers…which is awesome! We love to see Christians expanding their knowledge and skill of this tool that is so effective in reaching others for Christ. We answer scores of questions every week and while we love the opportunity to help so many individuals, we thought “why not let everyone in on this?”. Starting next month we will be hosting a weekly video webinar to answer questions on filming, editing and motion graphics! These videos will be posted on the Second Mile Media Facebook page, Youtube as well as here on the blog, so be sure to “like” our page or subscribe to our youtube channel! We hope this will be a help and blessing to you and your ministry. More details to come, stay tuned!
